Science & Environment Club
About Us | Science & Environmental Club is aimed at students who love the wonders of science. The club provides opportunities for pupils to explore areas of Science not covered in the curriculum. The CCA sessions are on Fridays, 2.15 – 3.45pm. Activities are conducted within the school, both indoors and outdoors. |
Experiences | CCA members go through the following modules during the year: 1. Life Sciences 2. Earth Sciences 3. Environmental Awareness and Appreciation 4. Physical Sciences 5. Young Scientist Card Activities Members get the opportunity to go on a learning journey at least once a year. These learning journeys include field trips to NEWater Treatment Plant, National Kidney Foundation, Science Centre and even Yakult Factory. These trips were carefully planned to deepen members’ understanding of the various fields of Science. |
Developing our students | During CCA sessions, members acquire valuable knowledge spread across Ecology, Botany, Science of Water and Environment Awareness through the Young Scientist Card activities and collaboration with external organizations. Members also get to exhibit and develop their creativity through making simple Science toys during our Physical Science modules. Pupils also get to improve their confidence through presentations of their group work. |
Growing hearts and minds | Activities conducted during the CCA sessions are geared towards character building and inculcating the values of team spirit, empathy and self-discipline. Group activities form an integral part of the CCA. Members find meaning through interactions with the other members and their interdependence on one other to achieve a set task. Members are trained to be self-disciplined to complete their tasks, with the help of the other members. |
Empowering leaders and talents | Science & Environmental Club key members (Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Level Representatives) are expected to model the way. They help lead small-group discussions and demonstrate activities and during CCA sessions. They also share and present their findings to the junior members of the club. |
