Discover how the EDGE Sports Programme builds character, resilience, and teamwork in students through structured sport and play across all primary levels.
EDGE Sports Programme
Our Purpose
The EDGE Sports Programme is a key domain under EFPS’s Total Curriculum. Through sports, students build physical literacy while developing essential 21st Century Competencies (21CC) such as resilience, teamwork, and self-management.
More than just physical activity, EDGE Sports uses structured play to teach values, reflection, and goal-setting — helping Edgefielders grow into confident, collaborative, and adaptable individuals.
P2: Foundations in Movement
Modules: Kids Athletics • Rope Skipping • Outdoor Learning
At Primary 2, students develop fundamental movement skills through high-energy activities that are fun and purposeful. The programme nurtures coordination, agility, and spatial awareness while reinforcing self-awareness and teamwork.
Students set personal fitness goals and monitor their progress.
They participate in relay races, partner activities, and group challenges that strengthen cooperation.
Outdoor Learning introduces basic navigation and appreciation of the environment.
Focus: Confidence, self-regulation, empathy, and physical coordination.

Every step build strength, joy and the spirit to do better.

With every leap and stride, we grow in resilience, in joy and in the courage to keep moving forward.

Every step we take leads to the discovery of the world around us and the strength within us.

P6: Learn to Play Sports
Modules: Tchoukball • Floorball • Fencing • Archery Tag • Inline Skating • TKD/Wushu • Volleyball
In their final year, students choose one sport and delve into it more deeply. This encourages ownership of learning and develops game sense, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Students learn sport-specific skills like passing, defending or skating.
Practise strategy-building, team communication and goal-setting.
Ethics and fair play are taught explicitly, nurturing respect and integrity.
Focus: Collaboration, decision-making, communication and respect for rules and roles.

With every glide and stumble, we learn to believe and be bold.

Every throw is a choice to connect and trust.

Together, we lift each other with strength, trust, and teamwork.
Our Approach
Across all modules, EDGE Sports applies a consistent framework that emphasises:
Ipsative Growth: Students evaluate their own progress over time.
Reflective Practice: Students reflect on efforts, challenges, and outcomes.
Character Building: Sports become a platform to practise empathy, responsibility, and unity.
Goal setting and Resilience: Students experience challenge, develop discipline and celebrate progress.

Through focus and discipline, we build strength in body, in mind and in character.
